This project by Nefa Architects is located in a historical building of a tea sorting facility, freshly repurposed as a residential cluster. The building was designed in the early 20th century (before1917) and is an excellent example of red brick industrial architecture of that era. For designer this job was particularly appealing because of the necessity to fit all the essentials of an apartment in such a compact cubicle space.

The solution was to introduce levels, using ceilings height (4,3m); Entrance, sofa & kitchen area are located on the bottom level; Second level is raised to the height of the windowsill, and used for the bedroom compartment; Third level is bathroom and wardrobe.
This division of space is very common in single apartment at present. Making staggered floor by using the floor height is especially useful in some apartments with unreasonable layout

Colour scheme of the project is white with accents of blue and black graphical details, such as the bedroom partition frame, stair railings, light and electrical accessories. Main design accent is the sliding bedroom partition, where we used textured glass with a linear pattern, combined in a multi-direction scheme to create an optical effect that reveals when the sliding part is in motion.
This kind of glass partition is especially useful in rooms with poor lighting. At the same time, various styles and patterns can be added to the glass partition to make the room more interesting

Overall the studio looks minimalistic and nevertheless has all the functions of the “ individual living cell”, with enough storage space, kitchen equipped with all the appliances, and full size bathroom. Custom made bar\dining table is movable and can be adjusted in the space as desired. Also there is a folding screen for watching movies.

Personally, the use of this table is very interesting. The first is the color. It adopts a bright blue relatively, which adds a main viewpoint to the whole space and makes the room more vivid. The second is mobility, especially in a single apartment, a movable table makes the hardware layout of the whole room more flexible,

At present, projectors are very popular in many families. Firstly, the development of the network makes many people have no habit of watching TV, which can save redundant TV space. Secondly, in the single apartment, because of the limited space, it is difficult to place the TV in a reasonable place, and the size of the TV should be considered, and the development of the projector has solved all the problems above.

My project 5 is also a single apartment. At the same time, it also applies to several design points mentioned in this project. 1. Movable furniture. Different from the separately movable table in this project, my design is that most of the furniture in the room can be moved through the collection of various furniture in the closet. 2。 Raising the ground is different from the idea in this project. I raise the living and rest space to prevent customers from directly contacting the cold ground, because my project is in London and it will be very cold in winter. 3. Using glass partition instead of wall, the lighting and permeability of single apartment has always been a headache for designers, especially those rooms with insufficient light. Therefore, I do not intend to set partition in my project, including bathroom, but only glass partition instead.
